  • Portfolio Development

This is for those who need help with putting together a portfolio for High school, College or University admission; and are either running low on time or just need someone to consult on what is best to include for their application.

*If you have given yourself over a year I recommend just joining a class and informing me of your intention to submit a portfolio.

I can help narrow down an approach and focus, based on the chosen school(s), developed a plan and personal deadlines and let you know the general expectations and standards of the given school(s).

After a first free assessment, I will give my honest opinion of the chances of getting in, how much work and what exactly has to be improved and how.

I can also help students prepare for any interview components and feedback on written statements.

I want to make this very clear, will not do the work for the student! Homework will be expected and should be self-motivated. Not every thing can be done and completed within a class time, nor should it. Be aware, competition can be fierce, and Art is not for the lazy or the faint of heart. Be prepared to work. Knowing that, I will help in anyway that I can.

starting cost $50.00per 90 minute lesson / consult * price may vary, make an appointment for a free consultation and quote.

Confirmed dates for Out and About:
    Not available!

About: Instead of being stuck inside all day this program was created for students not to see Art as an indoor activity only, but something they can do anywhere. Instead of just being inspired by books and picture and screens we will be directly inspired by the city we live in and the nature that surrounds us.  Spending time out doors has been linked with children developing creativity and so many other benefits. Hence why Out and About was created.

The Plan: The Monday will be in the studio getting familiar with materials and approaches for the rest of the week on our adventures. Tuesday through Thursday we will be going out, and drawing/sketching/painting  from what we see and where we go. Different trips subjects will be planned for different weeks. Included will be the Royal Ontario Museum, which is full of so many interesting things to draw. We will likely go to natural parks to paint/hike, and draw the buildings of Toronto. Some weeks may also include going to the Art Gallery of Ontario and/or Riverdale Farm. Fridays we are back at the Studio to take some of our drawings and sketches and turn them into finished Art works or finish off paintings with final details.

About: A focused program on Art Making of all kinds. Students from the first day have a say in the subjects and what they might learn. In this way, the week isn’t planned fully ahead of time, so the interests of the students can be taken into account. It’s structured to be a learning experience that’s a lot of fun!

Past weeks have involved: Mask making, collage, printmaking silk screening, 3d paper crafts, sculptures, paintings, side walk chalk art, drawings and sketching to name a few. Adaptations are made for different ages. Older students may want to pass on some projects to focus on painting or drawing skills.

The Plan: The first day will be in the studio getting familiar with each other and quickly planning our goals for the week and warming up with some drawing based projects. From there will be a series of shorter and longer term art projects and crafts. Not all day is spent indoors. We go out a local park to play, splash around in a splash pad and eat our lunch. Excise and running around is strongly encouraged once at the park. We may even do some chalk art on a local shaded side walk.
